You can and should make as many decisions for a professional book the same way a traditional publisher would.
(the actions of a traditional publisher is what brings success NOT the publishing house)

Here's a sneak peak into one of our calls with Allison who's a current Author in the Collaborative. Listen to her share how she got started and how we've helped her.

Average time & expertise per project 40-50 hours for 30,000 words.
Projects take about 4-6 months to complete and vary greatly on the queue and/or your rewriting time.
If you're now wondering why editing takes so long...
Most first time authors do not understand the editing process.
If authors wrote their book without a plan, without the reader in mind and without a clearly developed structure framed around one core message, the structure edits will be extremely heavy.
To save time and money in editing, it is beneficial if the author understands what is the expected structure of a book.
It is harder to rewrite a book than to write it.
Copy editing and proofreading are both important stages in the non-fiction editing process, but they serve different purposes.
Copy editing involves reviewing the manuscript for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors, as well as checking for consistency in style, formatting, and tone.
Great copy editing requires experience & skill. We focus on inspirational non-fiction. Nicole is our head copy editor for voice & flow. She is uniquely concerned with how the tone and flow will make the reader feel. She brings a very strong element of creative writing techniques to this edit. She is extremely gifted and will create a consistent manuscript.
Proofreading, on the other hand, is the final stage of editing and involves reviewing the final manuscript for any remaining errors or inconsistencies. During this stage, the editor checks for typos, misspellings, formatting errors, and any other minor issues that may have been overlooked in previous stages of editing.
The average price for a 30,000 Word count inside our membership (you have developed and written your book with us) is

Editing is a creative process that requires transition time into the manuscript and time to process after each editing session. Our rate per hour includes the transition time, the coaching time, the administrative response, and our team discussion time. The price per project will differ depending on the levels of edits. Our rate per hour is higher because we can do it in less hours. You are paying for the speed and depth of expertise our team approach brings.
Rates per word are priced for quality professional standards. This is the most accurate way to price a project. The price will differ from project to project which is why we always start with and require an audit.
The writers that develop and write their books with us, have a much higher quality book to begin with. Their books require less editing.
And the feedback process is much quicker, for these writers know exactly what we expect from a professional book.
And lastly, we already have a deep understanding of where the book is going before we even read. They have been sharing it with us for months.
The first thing is we are reading your book two times before we even begin to edit. We need to get a sense of the whole book before we can make editing recommendations.
We help authors not only get a professional book but a successful one, with their business in mind. We get authors a better return on investment.
Many of the editors on these lower cost sites may not have English as a first language, degrees, or experience. We aren't just editing grammar, we focus on your overall message, flow, and voice to help you create a book that impacts the reader in a cohesive and authentic way.
We not only bring editing experience we are bringing years of both speaking & coaching industry plus our combined 40+ years education in inspirational non-fiction.
We help authors monetize their message and book before they even publish.
